Calligraphy - Wall Pictures
Nature is a powerful source of inspiration that invites to observe carefully and to meditate. For me, nature is an open book, and I try to decode the symbols in this book.
In my paintings, which I call wall pictures, I use Arabic characters and symbols on canvas. The texts are compositions of word fragments with mystical meaning, comparable with the continuous texts that were created with cylinder seals in Mesopotamia. The cylinder seal, containing circumferential inscriptions or motifs, showed a continuous band of repetitive images or texts when rolled on soft clay. Structures and calligraphy provide unlimited creative possibilities. The art work lives from the magic of the symbols.
Schriftbilder - Mauerbilder
Die Natur ist eine fruchtbare und vollkommene Quelle der Inspiration. Sie lädt ein, genau zu beobachten, vielleicht auch zur Meditation, die mit dem Schreiben verbunden ist. Die Natur ist für mich ein offenes Buch, und ich versuche, die Symbole in diesem Buch zu entschlüsseln. In meinen Gemälden, die ich Mauerbilder nenne, verwende ich arabische Schriftzeichen auf Leinwand. Bei den Texten handelt es sich um Kompositionen von Wortfragmenten, denen mystische Bedeutung zugeschrieben wird, ähnlich den Endlostexten, die mit Rollsiegeln in Mesopotamien erzeugt wurden. Die Rollsiegel enthielten umlaufende Inschriften oder Motive. Auf weichem Ton abgerollt ergaben sie ein fortlaufendes Band des selben Motivs bzw. Texts.
Strukturen und Kalligraphie sind unbeschränkt und bieten viele gestalterische Möglichkeiten. Ein Bild lebt vom magischen Geist der Schriftzeichen.
Vita / Lebenslauf:
Geboren 1956 in Bagdad, Irak. Besuch der Schule für Kunst und Graphik in Bagdad, danach Kunststudium an der Kunstakademie Bagdad. Mitglied im Berufsverband bildender Künstler München und Oberbayern e.V. (BBK). Seit 1998 in Deutschland. Ausstellungen im Irak, Deutschland, Frankreich, Zypern, Jordanien, England, USA, und Russland. Ankauf eines Bilds vom Britischen Museum in London, 2003.Symposien in Deutschland, Ungarn, Frankreich, und Tschechien.

Born in 1956 in Baghdad (Iraq). School for art and graphics in Baghdad. Study of fine arts at the Academy of Arts in Baghdad. Member of the association of artists (BBK), Munich and Upper Bavaria. In Germany since 1998. Exhibits in Iraq, Germany, France, Cyprus, Jordan, England, USA, Russia, Switzerland. Acquisition of a painting by the British Museum. Symposia in Germany, Hungary, France and Czech Republic.
