known for night urban landscapes in black and white: Urban Noir
A Night View of Los Angeles is a 360 degree, panorama of the entire city of Los Angeles, taken at night from the highest point - the helipad of the US Bank Tower, Downtown Los Angeles. Commissioned by Ricky Burdett and first exhibited as a 40 foot long print on stretched silk at the 2006 Venice Biennale di Architecture, Venice, Italy.
Exhibited a second time as a 40 foot outdoor print on vinyl at the front entrance of Photo LA, Santa Monica, CA 2007.
Then the vinyl print was tagged by renowned graffiti artists of LA in collaboration with Duce One X, A Night View Collaboration was exhibited at the 2007 Venice, CA Art Walk, installed on a schoolyard fence as a statement to bring art back into the public School Systems.
Author of Venice Beach, CA Carnivale, 2005 a digitally created and enhanced photo book about the artist's walk from her home to studio on Ocean Front Walk at Venice Beach.
Helen K. Garber's images are in in permanent museum collections as the George Eastman House, International Museum of Film and Photography, NY, the Brooklyn Museum, NY, the Museum of the City of NY, NY, Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, New Paltz, NY and the Portland Art Museum, Oregon.
Images from the Urban Noir portfolio have been reproduced in a number of books and magazines such as Photo District News, B&W, American Photo, Focus, Palm Springs Life and Antilepsis, Greece.
